We are thrilled that for the third year running Pink Soul Pictures is a Finalist in the St Albans Film Festival. Last year we won The Bechdel Award 2014 for our film Secret Garden.
This year our documentary COASTER has achieved Official Selection and will be screened at the iconic Festival in May.
Michael Seres was diagnosed aged 12 with the incurable bowel condition Crohn’s disease. In late 2011 he became the 11th person to undergo a small bowel transplant in the UK at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford. He started blogging about his journey through bowel transplantation. His blog has over 95,000 followers, and he uses social media to develop global on line peer to peer communities covering more than 20,000 patients. He devises social media strategies around patient engagement. Michael mentors patients and their families and is a published author and professional speaker. He is the patient lead for #NHSSM, a facilitator for the Centre for Patient Leadership, and digital strategy adviser to the Patients’ Association and Oxford Transplant Foundation.
In this film, Michael describes his journey as a roller coaster ride. We were keen to find a huge roller coaster to feature in the film. Thorpe Park Resort very kindly opened the park specifically for us.
Filmed, Directed, Edited by Michelle Becker, COASTER is a story of bravery and inspiration. We would like this film to raise awareness of the support communities available and that Michael’s bravery will be a source of inspiration and hope to others.
You can come and see COASTER on the big screen at the St Albans Film Festival in May.
